"Medium Bug"
Hi,
For some reason unknown to me all files are processed by Permute with the medium setting enabled. I have reinstalled, updated etc. Custom presets, regular presets, they all get set back to medium. In preferences the settings appear to be correct untill you select the preset selector. Then I see that Medium is also selected.
Any help on this issue is welcome, because I want to fase out all other apps like Max, handbrake etc. And just run one app for all.
Thanks!

Hi Christian,
do I understand it correctly that when you switch the preset's A/V quality e.g. to High, it gets reverted back to Medium?

Hi Krystof,
Yes this is the case. However on first sight the settings appear to be correct.

Hi Christian,
could you try removing your preference files and try it again?
~/Library/Preferences/and hit Go.com.fuelcollective.permute.Krystof

I have removed permute with app cleaner, still the medium bug is persisting.

Hi Christian,
one more question - are you using Mac OS X 10.6.8 or 10.7?

Hi Krystof,
Medium is no longer ticked in the list. However, files still get processed on medium. Processing the same file with MAX gives the preferred result.

Hi Christian,
is this true with all presets or just some? Could you try it with a few different ones?

Video seems to be converting fine. The problem arises with audio (m4a)

Hi Christian,
if it's just M4A, then it's the same issue as here: http://help.fuelcollective.com/discussions/problems/2843-i-dont-thi...
I'm working on it right now, might upload a beta today, if I figure out what's the issue.

Yep that sounds like what I'm experiencing. Can you keep me updated?
Cheers,
Christian

Hi Christian,
I've already fixed the bug. I'll need to do some more testing, but I'll upload a beta in a few hours and will post a link here as well as in the other discussion, so that you can test it an confirm it's fixed.

Hi Christian,
sorry it took a little longer than I though... Here's the beta build: http://updates.fuelcollective.com.s3.amazonaws.com/permute/beta/Per...

Hi Krystof,
It didn't fix it. Clean install of permute, but the problem persists. Set to custom 256 kbps permute processes at 151kbps.

Hi Christian,

Here's the right one:

Succes! Although one thing puzzles me, the original file was encoded on 256 kbps, the converted file is 246 kbps.
Thanks!

Hi Christian,
glad it's working - at least it's not stuck on 150.
I will look into why the bitrate isn't precise.
