About Snippet Services

How to use Services with Snippet

Snippet provides the user with two services

  • One for creating a new snippet from the selected text.
  • One from the selected file.

The default keyboard shortcut for creating a new snippet from the text selection is Command+Shift+6, and can be changed in Snippet's preferences. The other service does not have a default shortcut.

About Services in Snow Leopard

Apple has revamped services in Snow Leopard. The Services menu is now organized into categories, and is dynamic depending on current context (selection) and is adding service menu items into contextual menus depending on current context also.

How do I disable these services?

Some people who don't use Snippet's services may want to turn these services off. To do so, open System Preferences and then pick the Keyboard preference pane. You will be presented with two columns - in the left one, pick Services and in the right column, uncheck unwanted services (one is under the Text category, the other one under Files and Folders). You can also change the services' shortcuts here.
